In today’s article, we will know how prejudice brings a person to sectarianism, what is prejudice and sectarianism? What suggestions does the Qur’an make regarding its elimination? And how can we get ourselves out of it and how can we protect our children from this temptation?
What is prejudice?
Prejudice is a kind of feeling of superiority in which a person thinks that his thoughts, self, family and actions as if everything related to him is right but better than others. This thinking is called prejudice

What is sectarianism?
A sect is a group whose members all agree on one ideology and reflect that thought.
What is the relationship between sectarianism and prejudice?
Sectarianism is not so harmful as long as we give the other group the right to disagree, but when it involves prejudice, to consider oneself superior and the opinions of others inferior and to impose one’s own thinking as the opposite right. So it is harmful.
How to eliminate sectarianism at the individual level?
For this solution, I took verse 64 from Surah Aal Imran of Holy QuranSurah No 3: Surah Aal Imran – Ayat No 64
You say, O People of the Book! Come to a matter of justice that is equal between us and you, that we should not worship anyone but Allah the Exalted, nor should we associate anyone with Him, nor should we take each other as lords other than Allah the Exalted. If they turn their backs, then say, “Be witness, we are Muslims.”
Eradication of sectarianism
Rule #1:
Talk about the things that you and they have in common.
It is not necessary that differences should be discussed whenever we sit together. The nature of Allah, His attributes and favors is a topic in which no one has any objection or disagreement and there are many examples of this in the Holy Quran. This is also mentioned in this verse
(Qul -Ya’a’a’l -ul -Kaktab -ta’al -ul -Alai Kalmam -Sawa -Ba’innah and Ba’innakim_
You say, ‘O people of the Book, come to such a justice that is equal among you).
Rule #2:
Give the first right of your humility and love to Allah.
As he said in this verse:
(that we should not worship anyone but Allah)
Worship consists of 2 things “extreme humility and extreme love”.
When a person knows the secret of worship in the true sense, he does not give priority to the decisions of others over the decisions and words of Allah. While in sectarianism, it has often been seen that a person becomes intense in some matters of religion due to the love or fascination of another and this gives birth to a sect. Therefore, when deciding on a matter of religion, think that this Why am I working?
Based on said argument?
Or in someone’s love and affection?
Or is there a command of Allah behind it?
Rule No. 3:
Don’t put anyone on the same level as Allah’s decision.
Sometimes you believe in Allah and sometimes you believe in self or circumstances, this attitude is not correct.
occurs in the verse:
“And do not associate anyone with it”.
There are many types of priorities in the life of a person, in which caste, tribe, wealth and customs come.
In order to be accepted among others, a person is sometimes on the path of religion and sometimes on the opposite path. When a person’s priority in life is clear and there is no conflict in it, such a person is not a victim of sectarianism.
Rule No. 4:
Don’t blindly follow.
Believe and act on the basis of argument. Do not follow a person just thinking that his family is famous and not because of his personality, even if that person is educated but in the matter of religion. Be sure to ask for evidence, especially when you see an act in the name of religion, the origin of which is not found in the Holy Quran, Sunnah and Companions.
This is the effective method of getting rid of sectarianism in this part of the verse
“And do not take yourselves as Lords except Allah the Exalted”
To make one another Lord means to give the status of a human being to the status of God and to follow his halal and haram as religion.

Sectarianism and the demand for common sense
Among the sectarians, you may have noticed that they pride themselves by attributing themselves to them. happens .
What is gluttony?
In exaggeration, people will describe the glory of prophets, elders and important personalities in such a way that they will give them such a high position that they will bring them equal to Allah.
Today, it is a pity that sectarianism has taken the form of fanaticism even in Muslimah
What does intellect explain in the situation of sectarianism?
What is the choice for
:Surah No 3: Surah Aal Imran – Ayat No 65
O People of the Book! Why do you dispute about Abraham, even though the Torah and the Gospel were revealed after him? Do you still not understand?
The first requirement of wisdom is:
Refrain from arguing about what you do not have full knowledge of because an ignorant person argues, while a wise and knowledgeable person presents his point and gives others the right to take his opinion, not his own decision. As Allah explained to the Jews and Christians in this mentioned verse.
Their argument was that the Jews said they were on the religion of Hazrat Abraham (peace be upon him), that is, they were Jews, and the Christians said they were Christians. Allah said very decisively that any religion comes from the coming of the Book and the Messenger, and the Torah and the Gospel were revealed by Allah later. How can you claim?
According to an estimate, the distance between Hazrat Abraham (peace be upon him) and Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) is 1,000 years and that of Hazrat Abraham and Jesus is 2,000 years.
Surah No 3: Surah Aal Imran – Ayat No 66
Listen! You people have quarreled in that which you knew, then why are you quarreling in that which you do not know?
Second requirement of wisdom:
If you want to support or criticize any work or sect, get full knowledge of it first. The purpose of your discussion should not be to prove your position superior and others inferior or to prove others to be unbelievers and yourself to be believers.
If you don’t have knowledge, keep quiet. The enmity that has arisen under the guise of sectarianism in the Muslim Ummah is due to this reasonless discussion.

Were there differences among the Companions of Prophet MUHAMMAD s.a.w? Was there sectarianism in them too?
- Yes! The Companions of Prophet MUHAMMAD s.a.w also differed among themselves on many matters of religion, that is, they had different thoughts and views from each other, but they did not form their own sect on this basis, nor did they separate by building a separate mosque based on their views. Because they knew that, for example, if someone had seen the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) wash his limbs in wazoo once and another three times, then they would not call the other wrong on that basis, but would ask for the proof of this, if there was a valid proof. If there was an argument for action on both sides, then they would have remained silent. It is as if they gave others the right to disagree and stick to their own way.
This is the character that has disappeared in our nation today.
